This was last year’s New Year’s Meditation Retreat in Chacala, Mexico.

Join us for 7 days and 6 nights on the sandy beaches of the Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. This experience has been specially tailored to rejuvenate and rebalance, while we dive deeper into our understanding of meditation, make new friends, relax, swim, connect with nature, and recharge for the new year.



If you’ve yet to learn Vedic or Transcendental Meditation, you can experience comprehensive training with Bliss More author and international meditation teacher, Light Watkins, in this beautiful environment, away from everyday life.

Or, if you already practice either of those techniques, you will be taught “Rounding," which is an advanced meditation technique that will renew and elevate your practice to another level. Each participant will be given a tailored transformational program that will have you coming away feeling deeply refreshed, energized and inspired. 

All of the practices you learn on the retreat are intended for easy home use as well. 



To help you unwind further, international yoga teacher, Claire Robbie, will lead daily vinyasa and yin yoga classes that will enhance your experience, opening body and mind.


Delicious Food

You’ll enjoy three daily delicious and nutritious meals in an open air-dining terrace overlooking the ocean. All food offered will be healthy, local and when possible, organic - vegetarian dishes as well as fresh fish and seafood. Meals are prepared from scratch using many ingredients from the local organic farm owned and operated by the retreat center. Special dietary requirements can easily be accommodated.

You will be participating in a beautiful, alcohol-free bonfire and beach ceremony to reflect on the magic and power of the past year, and properly welcome in the new year.



You'll enjoy daily knowledge talks with Light and an inspired community of like-minded people. You'll also have plenty of time to unwind with a variety of spa treatments. Additional activities like whale watching and local tours are available too—see below.



On this retreat we will be encouraging limited cell and internet usage so that you truly have a chance to recharge and reset.

Light Watkins

Light has been teaching Vedic Meditation for ten years and leads retreats around the world. He is an expert in the art and science of consciousness, and author of The Inner Gym series and Bliss More (Random House). Light has taught thousands of people from all walks of life how to meditate in a self-sufficient way.  

Claire Robbie

Yoga Mama, yoga teacher, retreat coordinator and a Mumtrepreneur. Claire is the founder of Jack & Olive Retreats, a retreat company that combines yoga, meditation, spectacular landscapes and adventures of a lifetime with some of the best teachers in this solar system. She's also the founder of the mindfulness movement No Beers? Who Cares!

Q & A

What time does the retreat start and end?
The retreat starts at 5pm on December 29th, 2018 and ends at 10am on January 4th, 2019.

Who can attend?
Everyone! Vedic Meditators of all levels of experience are invited to take part. If you have not yet learned Vedic or Transcendental Meditation, Light will be teaching beginners during the first days the retreat at a reduced cost of $400 pp (sliding scale of $500 to $1500 if you learn VM with Light domestically).

What if I want to meditate, but my friend/spouse does not want to?
This is a meditation retreat, so while there will be free time to enjoy the location, we strongly encourage everyone to participate in the retreat. We will be offering classes for new meditators as well, so everyone is welcome!

When should I plan to arrive at the center?
We recommend an additional night’s stay the night before if you are traveling from outside the States due to jetlag and settling into the center before the retreat starts. This gives you time to unwind before the retreat starts. We can help arrange this for you.

How do you assign the rooms?
Rooms are assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis based on when you make your deposit. All of the rooms are unique in size and views. Changing to a different room at the retreat is subject to availability and additional costs may apply. Please note: some rooms are simpler than others, but we will do the best we can to give you the best available room. There are no refunds or discounts if you do not like your assigned room. 

What airport do I fly into?
The best way to reach Chacala where the center is located is to fly to Puerto Vallarta International Airpot (PVR), which has non-stop and connection flights from all major US cities. We can suggest transportation options from/to the airport. Transfers are not included.

What can I expect the daily program to look like?
Each participant will engage in their own individually-tailored program and receive instruction in the art of Rounding. Guests can take the retreat at their own pace. However, a day will look something like this:

  • Morning yoga

  • Breakfast

  • Instruction and practice for new meditators

  • Rounding instruction and guidance for existing meditators

  • Free time (optional: yoga, spa treatments, relax by the pool or explore the retreat grounds)

  • Lunch

  • Afternoon session for new meditators

  • Free time (optional: yoga, spa treatments, relax by the pool or explore the retreat grounds)

  • Afternoon Rounding

  • Knowledge talks with Light Watkins

  • Optional sunset beach swim

  • Dinner

  • Early night to bed
